Reversed ATM fraud: how my blackberry phone saved me – True life story

Reversed ATM fraud: how my blackberry phone saved me – True life story

The life of Onyekachi Umeogu would have been a pitiful cum disgraceful show if he had not been saved by his own-self. Umeogu is an IT student, who graduated from the famous Anambra State University. A well behave both in character and disposition. On the faithful day of Tuesday been April 23, 2013, he went to answer a call from his step mother who is a lecturer with an undisclosed university in awka.  On getting to her office, her step mother, name-withheld asked him to help her withdraw some money from her account via ATM machine. Luckily for him, he was on motion camera with his blackberry phone which covered the whole conversation unknown to his step mother.

He told GLOBALafrica News that he almost deleted the video, which was interrupted by a ping from his friend, during the interaction he forgot to delete the video he covered inside his step mother’s office.

On reaching the ATM, he was not able to make withdrawal because of persistent network problem that dogged head with the bank that day,  which he said , that he has to visit other banks to know if he could be able to make the withdrawal.

Almost all the ATM machine, he visited says the same, ‘that the financial institution is inoperative,’ later he decided to revisit her financial institution teller machine, which this time it was able to pay him and he cashed the money back to his step mother.

But surprisingly for him, in about 4hours later, police came and arrested him in their house and was taken to the bank. He saw his step mother who claimed that somebody make a withdrawal with her ATM card, and when the footage of the ATM recorded transaction was shown, it was onyekachi her step son.  She claimed not to have given any third party his ATM card to make withdrawal on her behalf.

Onyeka pleaded with the bank that her step mother gave him the ATM to help her make withdrawal but the bank refuses to hear his plead.  Quickly he remembered the motion picture he took while in his step mother’s office.  He brought it out, and was played before the bank.  They were all shocked that a step mother who is a lecturer and professor in economics, could be so mean and wicked to have wanted his son to rot in jail.

In response, the police arrested the woman  for false alert, criminal minded and dead wish and will be charge to court in due time.
