It was a bizarre day for the members of the Movement for the
Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) over the inclusion they
made alerting all Igbo’s to observe the sit at home order as not less than 50
members of MASSOB were arrested and at least six dead with scores of injuries
recorded when they clashed with the team of Nigerian Army, Navy, Police and
civil defense along Enugu Owerri road.
The MASSOB had earlier made an order that every Igbo’s should
observe today been Saturday 8th of June 2013 as a day set aside to mourn the
Igbo that were killed through out the insurgent of BOKO HARAMIST. Boko haram is known to be one of the deadliest
political weapons which were fashioned in the guise of Islamizing Nigeria.
It was learnt by GLOBALafrica that as earlier as 3:30 am, the MASSOB members has barricaded the
Onitsha Enugu expressway to stop motorist from moving in and out of the eastern
hearthrobe of Nigeria.
These sought measures made them to began harassing those who try to evade the
sit at home order by unleashing destruction of cars as their merited weapon.
As at 6pm, the
MASSOB member made a bonfire on the road to stop any form of movement thereby caused
scares among the road users. Atleast not less that three vehicle were burnt.
Earlier in its announcement, the governor of Anambra state
has directed all citizens and aliens of the state to go about their normal
businesses without any panic or fear saying that the said activities was
unconstitutional and abuse of citizenship right.
In a contrast, the president of Igbo youth movement Comrade
Elliot Uko has condemned the sit at home order from the MASSOB as a threat to
the existing peace that is been champion in Nigeria.
Examining the sit at home order some market in Anambra
decided to close down shop in order to make peace reign. A visit to the Auto New spare parts market Nkpor,
the market was totally shut down. All effort to reach to the market chairman
was fruitless. When our reporter visited onitsha
main market, it was scanty as most lines were shut down and all ever busy road
that leads to the market was in ghost state.
It was learnt that the old spare parts market Obosi open in the morning
between 7am to 9 am before they
ordered that all traders to evacuate the market to avoid any form casualty. Apart from market all banks were shut down in
Anambra state most especially onitsha,
Nnewi, Nkpor and Obosi urbans.
Reacting to the incident, most people who spoke to our
reporter condemned the actions of the MASSOB which demanded the response of the
military joint effort that leads to the scores of injuries and death of some members
says the MASSOBS started burning people’s cars which include government car
along the Owerri road precisely police vehicle.
